Before we start we would like you to realize that everything we put on this page is 5th grade appropriate.

SCIENCE

Health

We have started our health books in which we will be learning about body growth and change and healthily eating, exercising, and not taking drugs. We will be talking about puberty, adolescence, hygiene, and emotional changes. Some of our students feel a little uncomfortable so they are welcome to read the books by themselves.
Soon we will be watching what they're calling 'the video', but Miss Hertlein will send a note home verifying the day. This is so they will not whisper about when we will watch it.

SOCIAL STUDIES

In Social Studies, our students have been separated into 5 groups. Each group is studying a subject from our social studies book, and then performing a short skit for our class about their subject with eye witnesses and reporter(s). The subjects are as follows:
1. The Intolerable Acts
2. Boston Tea Party
3. Boston Massacre
4. Battle of Bunker Hill
5. The Continental Congress

MATH

We have finished our math expressions books, and we are now reviewing things we have learned with Math 4 Today. We do a worksheet that's 16 questions and the next day we do a ten-question quiz.
Also, Miss Hertlein sent an email out to notify you about how we are having guest speakers who are the parents of children in 5th grade to talk to us about how they use math everyday in their jobs. This is because our 5th graders have been wondering how they use the math they're learning in everyday life or the jobs they will soon have.
